Hi all
Just downloaded some fancy mouse cursors from kde-look.org
I managed to install them via kontrol-center, but for some reason, not all of the cursors seem to work; one is the "animated 'please-wait'cursor" - whenever I click a link in firefox, the standard ugly black version is displayed. The second one is the hand with index finger that shows up (for example) on the desktop when I hover over an icon.
Why is that?
so long

Try logging out of KDE and back in again. Settings only take effect for applications started after a new mouse curser theme has been chosen.
Some cursor themes need symlinks created to work properly on non-KDE apps. Which theme are you using? |

Firefox is a GTK application. You (probably) are noticing this problem with other GTK apps as well.
To set GTK settings, edit your .gtkrc-2.0 file.
The setting you want is
gtk-cursor-theme-name="Foo"
Other potentially useful settings: (Though they don't really affect Firefox much since it can use its own theme and KDE does, iirc, apply some of its own settigns to GTK apps)
gtk-icon-theme-name
gtk-theme-name
gtk-font-name _________________ Dnas

OK, I could nail down the problem to this:
Cursors work, in gtk and in KDE apps - with two exceptions:
- In konqueror, whenever I hover over some clickable item, like a file, a drive etc. I get the standard hand-like cursor, not the one from the theme
- In firefox, when I click a link, I sometimes get this cursor with "wait"-indicator; and this cursor is the standard X11-one, not the one from the theme (all other cursors in firefox are fine...)
