Greetings,
For anyone interested I've completed a guide to installing Postfix and configuring SMTP-AUTH without having to use MySQL as in the Gentoo Virtual Mailhosting Guide.
I'm betting that, like me, there are tons of people out there who get put off by the whole SMTP-AUTH process because it involves having to use MySQL and add a ton of complexity to your mail server configuration. Don't get me wrong -- there are a number of scenarios where the MySQL setup is superior, but there are also at least as many where it's just overkill.
Provided below is the link to my guide to getting Postfix running (with SMTP-AUTH) in roughly 5-10 minutes. It's very easy to do (once I figured it out), and I just wanted to pass it on to the Gentoo community as an alternative to using MySQL.

Please let me know if you find any mistakes in the guide, or any way that the procedure can be further optimized or otherwise improved. Also, post any comments here in this thread so we can help others who want to make use of your improvements. I'll be editing my guide with the changes as well.
