Tach!
Was mache ich falsch?
Hab meinen kernel auf 2.4.20 geupdatet und nun läuft kein xfree mehr (auch make menuconfig geht nicht mehr!).
Muss ich X neu kompilieren? Oder hat sich eine kernel-option geändert? (Hab alte config übernommen)

etwas mehr auskunft bitte. verwendest du nvidia treiber? wenn ja nvidia treiber neu installieren. welche fehlermeldung kommt wenn du xfree startest, welche fehlermeldung kommt, wenn du make menuconfig startest?

make menuconfig bleibt hier hängen und arbeitet viel an der Festplatte (kommt aber nie zu einem Ende):

das sagt uns, dass du modul-probleme hast.
am besten, du versuchst mal folgendes
| Code: |
1) cd /usr/src/linux
2) mv .config ../
3) make mrproper
4) 1) mv ../.config . und dann neu modules-bilden
2) völlig neu kompilieren
dann müsste dein system erstmal wieder gehen

| Vielleicht hilfts wenn du von cd chrootest und dann wie von mo-ca vorgeschlagen den kernel neu kompilierst. |
