Allora... ieri ho fatto partire la mia gentoo e quando in gdm ho messo la password si è piantato tutto...beh.. ho ravviato e ho provato ancora un paio di volte.. stessa storia: "la tua sessione è durata meno di 10 secondi.. errore in.." non ricordo e non ho neanche trascritto...
Intanto da terminale ho aggiornato il world tra cui i driver ati (usavo i ~x86, quindi per non effettuare un downgrade ho aggiornato ancora a quelli ~x86).
Ora il server X non parte proprio...

Ho trovato anche una discussione di un possessore di una radeon 9000 (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-502170-highlight-chipset+recognized.html) in cui aveva un errore simile (anche se si manifestava in modo diverso..).
Gli han detto che la sua scheda non era più supportata..
Però sul sito della AMD c'è scritto "Linux x86... Radeon 8500 Series and higher. Versione 8.29.6
Quindi cosa potrebbe essere??

se hai una radeon 9000 dovrebbe essere supportata anche dai driver di xorg (che arrivano fino alla 9200)

Scusate.. non mi sono accorto di non aver messo la vga:
Radeon 8500.
Ma fino poco fa funzionava tutto alla perfezione. Non so per quale motivo.. posso fare la prova a passare agli stabili, voi che dite?

Ho effettuato il downgrade ai 8.27.10-r1 e funziona.
Però mi potete ugualmente dare il link preciso a dove c'è scritto che il mio chipset (r200) non è più supportato??

Ora questi funzionano..
So che mi devo fermare agli 8.28.8... appena entrano negli stabili (se entrano) li installo.
