I would buy an ide card on pci ton add ide peripherals in my computer, but I don't know which chips or cards to stay far from, because of incompatibility or non support.
could you advice me ? |

I can just advice you to buy a card with promise chipset. Had one of those in my old computer. Worked lika a charm. |

maybe a good idea
i've a raid promise chip on my motherboard, but i can't use it because non-support of non-hdd drives (like cd-rom) and raid only works with same hdd (and i've seagate & maxtor :/)
but i've seen that promise drivers are integrated in the gentoo-sources kernel |
