hey I just swiched from ubuntu to gentoo and I have to say, that I like it a lot, everything works fine.

everything? well if there wouldnt be my ipw2200 bg that the wiki says to be so easy to install

I dont have any IEEE80211 modules inkernel-modules and emerge ieee80211 works perfectly fine without any error messages

but when I modprobe ieee afterwards it gives me this
Quote:

catadoxas-notebook catadoxas # modprobe ieee80211

I have the same problem all the time with ieee80211 (I use the ipw3945 drivers). I thought it was the module...but it turns out to be user error - at least in my case.

My guess is that you recompiled your kernel since you compiled that module. I would re-emerge ieee80211 and see how that works.
