Whats the deal with this upgrade? I had to reinstall all my plugins, which has never happened before, the throbber doesn't work and the ugly icons Ubuntu uses have gotten in there. I'm not happy.

if you compile it yourself and don't use the -bin version, you can set the "mozbranding" useflag to get the mozilla icons

Try Konqueror or Opera for a browser.
On the aspect of nice UI I especially like Konq myself (I really don't get all those people that whine about it).

I couldn't disagree more. I think Konq is the most immature looking browser.

Why?
I mean, does this really look so bad?

Well, I use firefox so I'm used to that. It's also that fonts seem to be messed up in konqueror, at least by default. And I use konq as a file manager and I don't like that whole one application for two purposes idea.

Q-collective, since you use konq regularly, maybe you can help me. I like konq but there are few annoyances. Three things I would like to know about:
1. How do I close all open konq windows when I say "Quit" from file menu?
2. how do I autosave my session with all the windows and tabs, and then restore it automatically on startup?
3. How do I tell it not to open 6 additional empty tabs when I open something in new window? I think once I save my "webbrowsing" profile, every new window opens that many tabs.

I would really like konq to become more popular.

You mean like a killall? Hmm, not sure about that.

Well, that is a good question, which I would like an answer of myself.

Go to settings -> configure konqueror -> web behaviour -> tabbed browsing and uncheck the box "open links in new tab instead of new window". Although I'm not sure why they open 6 tabs for 1 link?

Agreed. My only gripe with Konqueror (and therefor the reason which I have Opera), is that Konq's javascript support is suboptimal, especially in the AJAX arena. It therefor sucks for Gmail, Wordpress2 and the like. But as KDE4 is going to make extensive use of javascript (in Plasma) and is going to be revised to meet up with that demand, it can only strengthen KHTML in that area :)
That and the Opera features of ctrl-z (reopen a closed page) and session support would make Konqueror the most kickass browser in existance :)

Edit:
On the session management note: I asked in #kde if such a thing existed and they mentioned the "crashes monitor", you can switch it on in: settings -> configure extensions -> tools -> crashes monitor", you might want to try it out?
