Hi
I am not able to answer this really. But at the moment i am doing and install and using
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-quickinstall.xm
also why is the /boot/grub/grub.conf
Code:
splashimage=(hd0,1)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
root (hd0,1)

my system is not working and I have (hd0,0) not 0,1

i see that it has something to do with fstab

sorry this doesnt really help you.

Thanks. I figured it out. My RAID controller was not properly loaded in the kernel.

As for your grub file, everyones can be different. (hd,0,0) simply means the first hard drive and the first partition. My file is (hd0,1) because my boot partition is the second partition on the first hard drive. the xpm file is the splash screen file.
