|
|
Hi
I have two sound cards (SB Live & NF7 onboard) and I want to choose one of them as my default sound playback device. In winecfg I can see something like this:
Code: |
Sound Drivers
- ALSA Drivers
- Wave Out Devices
- ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback
- dmix:1
...
- OSS Drivers
- Wave Out Devices
- SigmaTel STAC9758,59
- Realtek ALC650F
...
|
right now the default is SB Live.
Any ideas? |

keep it.
onboards tend to be mediocre. I have an AN7 with is damn close to the same thing and the onboard picks up all kinds of crap interference every time there is the slightest movement on the screen. (even the blinking emoticons produce noise!).
Also a real card will have a games port should you need joystick for anything.
I have an Ensoniq "SoundBlaster" , simple but clean sound.
I have not tried the spdif IO on the onboard because I dont have any digit devices , that may or may not be cleaner.
These things can be very h/w specific so I suggest you try it.

What is your problem?
I would have thought you want to configure Linux not wine if you want the other sound card as default.
Look at your alsa config and reverse the order of the cards.
If I mis-understood could your be more specific?

this solution I know but I don't want to do that. I want to use SBLive as my system default (how it is now) and in wine the other card (onboard) |

I have the same problem!
My config is the following:
Gentoo 2006.1, amd64 3000+ cpu, 1GB ram, etc.
sound devices from lspci:
00:0c.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 (rev 10)
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60)
versions of my software:
ALSA 1.0.13
esound 0.2.36-r2
Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.5
kde-config: 1.0
And two users:
one is using flash games, wants them to listen on big soundspeakers
the second one wants to do everything on headphones, possibly by the other card with its own sound settings
Both of them wants to have independent sound volume etc, and I don't know how to configure all those cards with alsa or some other magical stuff... Please, help!
My current config is overall alsa sound for the first user, and nosound/customized per app for the second one (audacity, xmms, and similar allows to choose specific sound device and for that way is works, but this way is crappy). _________________ -pio- |

What do you mean by alsa config?
I am trying to do the same thing as the original poster. wine sees my other sound card, but I have no idea how to make it use it. |
