I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction. I leave my gentoo machine on all weekend long, comming back on Monday, it seems really slugish. I have a screen saver running too. xscreensaver To clear up everything I have too reboot.

Can you tell us what else you have running over the weekend? Do you leave your web browser open? Is it open to a page with flash?
when it's running slow, run top to see if you can see something eating cpu or memory (type uppercase 'O' then lowercase 'o' to sort processes by memory usage).... anything there higher than it should be? |

I figured it out. It is XMMS that is causing the problem. I am streaming audio, so I dont see how that would take up all my memory. If I close XMMS and reopen clears the memory. _________________ Linux Newbie |
