Hi,
i'm trying to make a midi audio interface (M-audio Midisport 2x2) work on Gentoo.
The device needs a firmware upload at boot time that is realized by fxload, after udev discovered the device.
The whole process doesn't woks at boot time. However, if i unplug/replug the usb cable once the OS is fully loaded, everything works perfectly.
So would it be possible that the USB filesystem (/proc/bus/usb) is not yet mounted when udev starts ?
If someone would know the relative boot order of usbfs and udev (and maybe how to change that) i would be soooo happy to learn about it.For now i'm stuck with this problem.
Thanks !

/proc/bus/usb is mounted from localmount - this happens during the boot softlevel. I am not sure about udev, but IMHO this should be after usbfs is mounted. Now to answer your question, you should be looking at coldplug IIRC. This does a lot of funky initialization stuff during bootup - also you could try tweaking your udev rules to see whether that might help. _________________ /earth: file system full. |
