I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 AGP vid card. I use the nvidia drivers (version 4xxx). Every 10-12 days, X totally locks up. I can't hit Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and have it restart, and I can't hit Ctrl+Alt+F(1) and go to a terminal window. I know that only X crashed b/c I can still mount my samba shares over the network and stream MP3s (from the other side of town over my VPN ).
I just can't figure out how, other then to SSH into the box and kill X, to fix this. I actually can't even SSH into the box now b/c I don't have SSHd installed. I've been meaning to do that for a long time though, so I probably should soon.

What version are you using (4191, 4349, or 4363, 4349 is the one currently marked as stable)? You might want to try a newer version. Also, you may want to try using the kernel agpgart (some mobos work better with it than which the nvidia agpgart). |

I am using 4191. I didn't realize there was a newer version out. I'll upgrade to it this weekend and see if anything changes.
When I went to 4191, stability increased 10-fold. I was rebooting daily in the 3xxx series.
