I just formatted my whole system because of this problem... and its back again. It's a totally new xorg.conf too.
So, X works fine, my Xorg.0.log doesn't report any errors. I can switch to different TTY's now (even thought I had some problems with it before).
Whenever I restart my X server I get a blank screen and nothing comes up. I can ssh into my box and restart it, so the whole system isn't locked.
I've searched the forums but I can't find anything. Any ideas? Thanks _________________ Gentoo

You need to provide more information.
emerge --info
Which video card?
Which video card drivers?
Contents of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
How are you starting X, using startx or a graphical login manager? _________________

alright I finally figured out the problem
For some reason having SBA and Fast Writes enabled on my card caused this problem. I disabled them and its working fine now. I found that out by just trial and error. _________________ Gentoo
