Code:
endeavor # cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card
Fast Writes:     Not Supported
SBA:             Not Supported
AGP Rates:       4x 2x 1x
Registers:       0x1f000007:0x1f000104

endeavor # cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/host-bridge
Host Bridge:     PCI device 8086:1a30
Fast Writes:     Supported
SBA:             Supported
AGP Rates:       4x 2x 1x
Registers:       0x1f000217:0x00000104

endeavor # cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status:          Enabled
Driver:          NVIDIA
AGP Rate:        4x
Fast Writes:     Disabled
SBA:             Disabled

endeavor # cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0
Model:           GeForce3 Ti 200
IRQ:             5
Video BIOS:      03.20.00.18.08
Card Type:       AGP
DMA Size:        32 bits
DMA Mask:        0xffffffff

that means that my motherboard supports SBA and Fast Writes but my Card does not, right? and that in turn means that it is never going to work, right?

i read through the howtos and tried to to activate sba and fw in my bios, but i could not find the "switch". meaning in my bios there is no obvious method to activate/ deactivate SBA or FW. (if there was such a "switch" how would i know? i've looked for SBA, FW and everything alike...) when adding the specified line to "/etc/modules.d/nvidia" and rebooting (without anything changed in bios) the system locks up shortly after gdm is started (the nvidia logo is displayed).
does all that mean that SBA and FW are out of the question for me?

thanks for your time.

FastWrites and SBA add instability and give a tiny if any performance boost, so it's simply not worth bothering with (which is why you'll find BIOS', drivers and such disable it by default.
