|
|
Hi,
Im installing a stage3....When I get to compiling my kernel, I notice that it compiles with "-O2" option...? However when compiling from stage1 its compiled with "-O3".
Obviously it isnt defined in the ebuild, since the kernel is downloaded just before the compilation.
Its gaming-sources btw...
Im confused

I never tryed the gaming-sources, but there are some things you should know (if not already):
the kernel does not care about CFLAGS in make.conf
different sources may have different optimizations set (methinks) so if the first kernel wasn't gaming or was another varsion that coukd be your explanation _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

Hi,
Both where gaming-r3...which is the odd thing.
I really dont mind, since Im in favor of a small kernel (if I could decide, the kernel would be Os)...
It sure looks like an error, however I would like to know where the flags for kernel-compilation is set...It doesnt look like its in the ebuild/package. - However it looks like it set somewhere in stage1 or stage2...Which again isnt the same as stage3 with updated system. (Which it should be afaik)..
My primary concern is that I either dont get it - or that other things beside this is different from the 3 installation methods (besides the obvious of course). - I would sure like a list if this isnt an error...

flags to compile the kernel are set in the makefiles of the sources afaik, what I'm certain is that the ebuild as nothing to do with it, since it doesn't compile the kernel, just douwnloads it _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

Strange...then it could be an error on the gentoo mirror Im using I suppose..? I wonder if I actually DO have release 3 of that kernel
Thanks for the input...
