|
|
This is the same issue as a previous string ("No username" 11/12), but I want to set up User account correctly at setup instead of building it via "useradd..." command at the terminal afterward.
I'm moving to the Gentoo Live CD after a couple of months using Sabayon (nicely done). I'd become comfortable with all the commands around Portage, but I'm not very experienced moving beyond that, so please excuse my ignorance on something as basic as this (and, yes, I did "RFM!" and query the forum--all the strings I had read dealt with reconciling username issues after installation).
The required fields in the set up dialog that I don't understand are Groups, Shell, HomeDir and User ID (User ID I'd imagine is a random number I'd choose--please correct me if I am wrong).
Thanks for your help.

Groups: A number of users tha have the same rights, like the group of portage:users that have the right to use emerge
Shell: The pathname of a shell, like /bin/bash
HomeDir: The home directory of the user, /home/<Username>
User ID: The number with which the system identifies a specific user.
See and the output from the "useradd --help" command _________________ Medi. BA |
