ok buying a new pc that will replace my client machine. Now the PC that is being replaced is better then my server. Is this possible to do:
Take the 2 hard drives out of my server and put them in my old PC that is being replaced and boot up? I have cold plug and hotplug installed. Would the bootup work or would I just have to reinstall?

I wouldn't do that. The new Hard drives are probably faster, bigger, etc. There are probably HW differences as well that would require a new kernel compile.
Instead, I would reinstall but with some shortcuts. There are some scripts (don't remember where, search some threads) that kind of take a package snapshot of your current system and then re-emerge that on the other one. So you recompile, but you don't need to manually emerge each package. |

| The moving of the HD were a success. All I had to do is recompile the kernel with the options of other motherboard and hardware. |
