hi,
i have installed gentoo on an sata hdd (hd0,0) this is the first sata hdd and i have windows on another hdd (/dev/hda) on the first partition (/dev/hda1)
the problem is that I can't make grub to boot from that partition ... I've tried a lot of combinations but nothing ...

If your kernel is in /boot, and /boot is /dev/[hs]da1, then your grub.conf should say /vmlinuz, not /boot/vmlinuz. _________________ We need to shoot cops, and hang politicians. Concentrate the vision, concentrate the vision. |

the easiest way to find out the correct partition is to reboot your machine. Then when grub doesn't find your kernel, go into the edit mode and type "kernel (hd" and then start using the auto-completion option (with TAB key). Sometimes grub and your bios rename drives in wierd ways. But with the auto completion you can be sure to get it right |
