|
|
Almost every second time I compy big file (about 2 GB) from partition to partition, or dvd to hard disc I get corrupted result (md5sum fails). I have also problems when I compile something like gcc (I am not sure this necessarily has something to do with the size of source code), it only succeed after trying 3 to 5 times. It probably has something to do with RAM or mainboard?
I once ran memtest and left it working for 1-2 hours... It found some (can't remember how many) errors. I assumed that this was more or less usual . Maybe that was stupid. I have few more month guarantee on the computer...
Any tips? I aks this becouse I have bad experience with technicians. So if there is a small posibillity that this could be fixed I prefer to leave it as it is...

let memtest run all the tests at least three times. Any errors mean broken hardware. Use your warranty while you still have it. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Testing things can only show things are broken, tests can't guarrantee something isn't broken. So if you want reasonable certainty that your memory isn't broken you'll want to test it thouroughly. Only that way can you feel confidant (though not sure) that the memory is good. Running all tests three times keeps your memory busy with a lot of operations for quite a few hours. If it passes that you can be confidant that the memory is ok. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
