It works!! Thank You! I was looking for problem somwhere else as xorg.conf taken from kororaa didn't work in my gentoo :)

Now the only problem is that my native screen res is 1400x1050 and it seems I have to use lower res in order to get full screen desktop. Nevertheless it is much better now! Thank You once more :)

Works works works.. with 1400x1050. I didn;t noticed before, but first post in this topic contains xorg.conf with very nice option:
Code:

Option       "CalcAlgorithm" "CheckDesktopGeometry"

in Monitor section :) It solves the problem.

Thanks again for great support!

Well, well, well...after about a year I thought I might give AIGLX and Compiz-Fusion another try.
Direct Rendering, my nemesis, we meet again!

I've got almost everything going so far, DRI works, also in my native resolution of 1400x1050, so
this is nice, no split screen error. Also, Compiz-Fusion doesn't crash, all the effects seem to work
etc. ...the only problem is the white screen error, which still occurs.

I got rid of the split screen bug by making a tiny change in the compiz source as the Gentoo
Help page on XGL errors suggests. At the moment I'm trying a few things (mainly re-emerging
packages such as glproto and then xorg-x11) but I'm pretty much out of ideas on how to resolve
this white screen issue. Everything looks fine apart from the white screen in the background and
also applications in full screen which are white.

Any hints at all? I'm going to try everything you say, no matter how stupid.
