Hello :)

This is my first post here. I don't understand many about Linux and i have one problem - i can't start it. I have this configuration:

AMD Sempron 64 3000+
Asus k8n4 nForce 4
MAXTOR 80 gb
ATI SAPPHIRE x550 256 mb

I use this version of GEntoo: livecd-i686-installer-2006.0

Please help me!

Hello,

I think that you are supposed to use livecd-amd64-installer-2006.0.iso, instead of livecd-i686-installer-2006.0.iso...
Here is the installation guide, I think that you will need it...

The AMD64 chips run 32 bit code natively so chances are using the amd64 livecd instead of the 686 live cd (which is 32 bit instead of 64) is not going to change anything.
We really need some more information here -- telling us you can't start linux doesn't even give us a clue as to what is wrong :)
I'll assue you've put the cd into the drive, restarted your computer and were confronted with a screen saying "Welcome to Gentoo" or something similar. It probably had boot: at the bottom of the screen.
If that's the case, what happens from here?

One common problem is that the default setting for the live cd doesn't work quite right on your system. You could try typing gentoo-nofb and pressing enter at the prompt which says boot:
