VMware 5.5.3 winXP guest can ping host but can't ping AP

hi

here is my setup

WindowsXP guest (192.168.1.6)(bridged) --> Gentoo host (192.168.1.4) --> wireless AP (192.168.1.1) --> internet.
Gentoo host is using wireless PCI card with madwifi-ng driver


strange thing is:
    the guest can ping host.
    the host can ping AP.
    BUT guest can't ping AP directly.
