|
|
Greetings, all.
I am almost done setting up a headless box intended for use as part of my portable recording rig. In the field, I intend to control it via a crossover cable to my laptop, and therein lies my question. I want to be able to autoconfigure the network interfaces on each end when I'm recording somewhere, but I don't want it to interfere with "normal" network operation, i.e., if I plug each machine into my home network, they should still grab IP addresses from my DHCP server.
Any suggestions? Did I miss something while reading the network subsystem documentation? Apologies if I didn't RTFM thouroughly enough first. _________________ Nick

Set up a different runlevel on your laptop (for a fixed IP and starting a dhcp server), or set both to use fallback static addresses (so when DHCP times out, they get assigned addresses). |

The second option sounds best to me; I'll give it a try. Thanks much. _________________ Nick
