OK. So I can use partimage to backup a partition to a compressed file? However, you can't backup a mounted partition (is that right?).
No problem I can just boot from a modified liveCD so that all the partitions on the HD are unmounted. Now where can I put the compressed files?
Admitedly, I could mount a USB HD and store them on there but I'd really like to get them onto DVD or something. Trouble is I'd needed somewhere to store the files, to build the iso image to burn to DVD first.
Anyone offer any advice ? |

if it's big enough, and you don't have a suspend image on it, you could always reformat your swap, use it as temporary storage space, then format it again as swap. _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration
