I'm running my Gentoo box behind an OpenBSD box with NAT. Now, this is working rather fine, though I'm having a minor issue with it:
Each time I reboot my Gentoo box, I'm forced to manually update /etc/resolv.conf. Though I don't have to update it if I "restart" my network interface.
Now, something is obviously trying to update the /etc/resolv.conf file, though failing while doing so. The NAT box uses static addresses to the clients behind it, and DHCP for fetching the IP address from the ISP. Is there a way to make sure that Gentoo doesn't clean out the /etc/resolv.conf file, or (even better) a way to have Gentoo sync the nameserver list from the OpenBSD box? |

With baselayout-1.12.x, if you have dns_domain_lo or dns_domain_eth0 in your /etc/conf.d/net, then, in setting the domain name into /etc/resolv.conf, the rest will be removed. You will be able to see the culprit, there will be a comment line at the top saying "Generated by net-scripts for interface lo".
To get your dns servers added to the new resolv.conf you will have to add Code: | dns_servers_eth0="192.168.0.2 192.168.0.3" | (from /etc/conf.d/net) to your /etc/conf.d/net â change as necessary. It would probably be a good idea to change dns_domain_lo to dns_domain_eth0 as well. _________________ The avatar is jorma, a "duck" from "Elephants Dream": the film and all the production materials have been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, see orange.blender.org for details. |
