I spent the last week and a half trying to install gentoo linux, with out
any luck. Everytime I did emerge system I would get the same error
message with gawk-3.1.2-r3.

I would first get a message saying that Makefile and filefuncs.c where
being replaced as they where being copied. I fixed that by rm'ing the files
from the directory.
The next error I got was as follows:

gawk-3.1.2-r3/work/gawk-3.1.2/awklib
cp ./eg/prog/igawk.sh ; chmod 755 igawk
cp: skipping file './eg/prog/igawk.sh' , as it was being replaced while being copied
chmod: failed to get attributes of 'igawk': no such file or directory
[make errors]
ERROR sys-apps/gawk-3.1.2-r3 failed
Function src_compile, line 48, exit code 2
(no error messages)

System: Celron 1.7
392,688 KB RAM
20 gig WD HD
nVidia GeForce 3 Ti 500

Make.conf where defaults except for the following:
USE="X gtk gnome kde alsa avi cdr doc emacs esd fbcon gd gpm mpeg oav oggvorbis opengl oss png qt quicktime sdl svga tcltk tiff usb xv"
CFLGS="-mcpu=pentium3 -march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -ffast-math -funroll-loops -malign-double -fforce-mem -fforce-addr -fomit-frame-pointer"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"

Mirror was oregonstate.edu
Not sure what else is required.

If anyone can help, that would be great, becuase I have no clue.
Thank you in advance.
