hi boys and girls,

i have a fresh compiled gentoo 2006.1 install as of few days.
when i login in fluxbox with xcompmgr enabled its deadly slow on my box. i have also runnin debian etch + arch linux on my box and fluxbox + xcompmgr is fast as hell . system configs + xorg.conf are identical. btw gentoo is optimized for my box and debian is not.

what could be the problem??

Do you have any reports about what is going on in the logs (~/.xsession-errors, /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/messages)?
There should be very usefull information about what is going on.

I have exact the same performance problem with fluxbox + xcompmgr and the radeon os drivers from mesa-cvs ebuilds.

Composite and rendering is activated and I have about 4000fps with glxgears with my 9800xt but xcompmgr works crappy in fluxbox.
It takes 1-2 seconds until an window which was moved to desktop is going transparent. I tried also with other xorg-server from masked ebuilds (eg 1.1.1.902) but this was taking down the performance.
I disabled aiglx flag.
