|
|
upgrading from 8776 I tried to start et and aa, and the machine freezed (though I could anyway use SYSRQ to force reboot)
the video card (Vaio laptop) is the following:
Code: | 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce Go 6200 TurboCache (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Sony Corporation Unknown device 81c2
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16
Memory at a0000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
Memory at c0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
Memory at 90000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at 91000000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [68] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [78] Express Endpoint IRQ 0
Capabilities: [100] Virtual Channel
Capabilities: [128] Power Budgeting |
and I have enabled SBA and FW for the driver
Now I've downgraded, but I don't know.. should I report it as a bug to nvidia??? _________________ Gentoo user since 2004.

My laptop runs 9629 just fine (6600, 256 ram). I would try nvidia 9742. Does glxgears cause a freeze too? |

nope.
nor glxgears neither warsow (another game I've installed recently). seems like fullscreen (or foolscreen) make it behave like that. I didn't tried to run it in a window. _________________ Gentoo user since 2004.

Are you using compiz or beryl?
Code: | Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "true"
Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true" # <- this
Option "Coolbits" "1"
EndSection |
Specify screen resolution modes in xorg.conf if the full screen games are trying to change it. |

Yes, best revert. Another thing is to peruse the logs but it's a longshot to expect anything |

seems like Nvidia fixed this bug with version 9631
changelog wrote: | Fixed an OpenGL crash on some GeForce 3 and GeForce 4 GPUs.
Fixed an X server crash starting some fullscreen OpenGL games.
Improved interaction with newer Linux kernels. |
