Fresh install of 2006.1 completed. When I try and configure X using xorgcfg I get the following error in my /var/log/Xorg.8.log file:

The card is an onboard device in a Shuttle XPC.
Any ideas why this is failing?

Well last time I heard a Sig 11 was pretty bad news for an X installation, have you tried configuring non graphically with xorgconfig and seeing if you can get X going that way. _________________ Remember, even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room! |

Yep, tried that...no joy. Same issues. Ended up dumping Ubuntu on there as a test...works fine. Now need to take another stab at getting Gentoo back on there. |

You can always try copying a working xorg.conf from another distro (such as Ubuntu), to your Gentoo install, and then seeing if 'startx' works with that. _________________ www.gentoo.org.au || #gentoo-au |
