I appologize if this is a rehash but I've looked all over this forum, checked the FAQ's at loki and icculus, and the news group at loki. I think I must be missing something obvious.
I used loki's installer for unreal tournament today. The install ran fine with no errors and I can play the game. I have no sound though. I have arts disabled and I have sound in NWN, UT2003, chromium, everthing else. In my unrealtournament.log I had a generic error saying the sound initialization failed. So I swithched audi drivers in the .ini files from AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem to AudioDevice=Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem and now I get "device busy" and then sound failed in the .log file. Since I've already killed arts I'm puzzled as to what else may be using the device.
Also, I did reenable arts and tried running it with 'artsdsp -m ut' but I still had no sound.
What am I missing here?
EDIT: Nevermind. Stupid user trick. I had the right idea but I had edited the wrong unrealtournament.ini file All better now |

Are you using alsa, and if so do you have the backwords compatibility with OSS? Does sound work elsewhere? |
