hi, i have one corner panel in the bottom center of my desktop and gkrellm running as well, and thats the only thing that i want to start up when i start gnome, but both of them start up, along with an extra menu panel as well. i tried alot to make it stop doing that, but nothing doing. i even tried to do "automatically save changes on exit" but i made a mistake and left it on after it didn't work the first time, and now i have a nautilus window and a galeon window automatically starting. does anyone know how i can remove this unwanted menu panel, nautilus window, and galeon window so they don't start automatically. thanks. |

I think there is a bug in the current session that forces users to always have a menu-panel. Don't know when it will be fixed though sorry. |

- Go to you unwanted panel menus (*smile*) -> Applications -> Desktop - Preferences -> Advanced -> Sessions
- Click the Current Session tab
- Select Nautilus, set it's Style to Normal, click Remove
- Select galeon(-bin), click Remove
- Click Apply
That should take care of it. Also, you could remove gkrellm from there and put it in the Startup Programs tab instead.
Anyway, now LOGOUT and login again. All should be fine now. |

to fix nautilus and galeon starting automatically, i just exited them and saved the session. gkrellm was already in startup programs under the sessions dialog. thats how i got it to start up in the first place. but each time i restart gnome, there is a gkrellm tab on the taskbar, and a small rectangle on the pager, but when i go into gkrellm configuration and unselect and reselect the options telling it not to do so, both the tab and the rectangle go away. i tried setting the type to be a dock or panel, and the same thing happens. i don't know what the deal is. i have also noticed that the same thing happens in fluxbox as well, but its not as big a deal the way fluxbox is designed, but its really annoying under gnome. |
