Hello all.
I've been reading threads about drm in X and have been trying things that seem to work for others, but nothing seems to work with me.
X 4.2.0 ran fine with kernel 2.4.20. But of course, a press of the Enter key after typing emerge -u world b0rked that.
here is what I get now when I type "startx"

(EE) R128(0): No valid modes found
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

I have tried
recompiling X (even tried to go back to X 4.2.0 but it would not work)
emerging xfree-drm
unmerging X, recomiling kernel to include support for something what's name escapes me for the moment, re-emerging x/x-drm
compiling development kernel 2.5.68 and including drm support.
My laptop is a Compaq Presario 1800t. Pentium 3 650 with 320MB ram, 40 gig hard drive. It has a ATI Rage 128 Mobility video chip with 16mb VRAM on it.
Any suggestions and/or help would be GREATLY appreciated. |
