i give up, i can't get this printer to work in ANY WAY on linux+cups or vmware (windows guest linux host)
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-3746567-highlight-.html
so instead of destroying my brand new printer like Michael Bolton would, i've decided maybe a print server would work.
can anyone recommend a good (inexpensive), print server that can work on linux? thanks. _________________ help the needy |

awww crap, i just saw the linksys wireless printserver at wal-mart for the same price as newegg so i picked it up even though on the box it said *not intended for multifunction printers.. which mine is. idk i'll try it out, or return it if it doesn't work. _________________ help the needy |

Having recently gotten cups/samba working with an OLD lazer MFC machine I could offer some help - however we all need more info. IMHO if your printer is local to the box I'd rather try and setup the printer locally on the box - if you want it remote many of the same fixes apply. BUT -
what kind of printer ?
USB or LPT
Postscript or no?
do you have foomatic-rip installed?
etc... |

no.
i would LOVE to have this printer work locally, then i can return the print server and save the $75, and just share the printer via samba... its a wireless print server thats sitting on top of the router :\
i was so desperate to have ANY kind of printing capabilites that i wasted money on the print server... but lost scanning capabilities... _________________ help the needy |
