Guten Tag,

ich hätte da mal ne Frage zum Thema PCMCIA, obwohl es schon oft in diesem Forum gepostet wurde habe ich nicht's gefunden was mir meine frage beantworten könnte.

Also Folgende Situation:
Ich habe einen Laptop Dell Inspiron 8100 und habe darauf Linux installiert, lauft alles wunderbar bis auf das WinModem aber das ist etwas anderes. Jedoch wurmt mich nun schon seit längerer Zeit diese PCMCIA Sache. pcmcia-cs ist zwar installiert funktionier aber nicht richtig es sagt immer das der erste platz Frei ist und der Zweite würde durch ein anderes Programm verwendet, egal ob etwas drin ist oder nicht. Also habe ich kurzerhand pcmcia aus dem Bootvorgang rausgenommen so das es nicht mehr gestartet wird.
Das erstaunliche ist jetzt aber das der PCMCIA trotzdem weiterhin funktioniert. Er wird von meinem Linux wie ein USB oder FireWire behandelt, mit dem Unterschied das alles am PCI angeschlossen sei was ich reinstecke.

Ich habe udev und den Kernel von www.kernel.org mit vesa-tng patch.
Kann mir einer sagen warum bei mir das pcmcia-cs anscheinend nicht gebraucht wird und ob das Normal ist?

ab einer 2.6.x kernel version ist pcmcia-cs nicht mehr notwendig, da pcmcia jetzt über hotplug/udev geregelt wird.
Und wenn du eh einen 32Bit Pcmcia slot hast und ne 32bit Pcmcia-karte, dann wurde die schon länger als "pci-gerät" behandelt.

für die userspace tools(nicht der deamon) gibt es die sys-apps/pcmciautils.

Danke für die Antworten jetzt ist mir die Sache etwas klarer geworden.

Jetzt hab ich nur noch zwei Porbleme in den Griff zu kriegen und mein Gentoo Linux ist perfekt. :lol:
