ok, so maybe I'm terrible at the search function, but I could not (for the life of me) find the threads referring to printing from linux to a linux print server via CUPS. I had this working with my gentoo client and slackware server, but I've since formatted both to gentoo 1.4_rc4. Now, I cannot figure out how to get my linux client(s) to print to the new gentoo server with Samba and CUPS running... _________________ only the paranoid survive |

Edit /etc/cups/client.conf. About a page into that file there is a commented line called Servername. Uncomment it and put the hostname or IP address of your CUPS server there. You should not specify the :631 port.
After that, it is just a matter of telling your machine what print system to use. In KDE I go to KControl | Peripherals | Printer and change that to CUPS. For non-KDE apps I specify the printer as kprinter. |

See this thread, which ironically is also named "linux to linux printing", yet I concur it didn't come up in a search. |
