I've been having this problem for awhile. At first it started off as not being able to view videos from video.google.com and youtube.com. I merged mplayerplug-in and followed some how-to's like this one. I also viewed this thread. I changed my Opera shortcut from "opera" to "aoss opera". That seemed to help. I also changed the file plugingate/np_entry.cpp according to the how-to link posted above. Both seemed to help, but at different times. I've upgraded world, merged this, etc, since following those.

In recent times, my video is choppy and sound is too high-pitched. What's weird is that it's almost random. Sometimes I'll be using Audacious and the sound will be fine, and other times it will be off. Also, sometimes Audacious will freeze and cause X to freeze too. "Cannot find plugin". But that's random too.

I tried re-merging mplayer, re-merging mplayerplug-in, tried how-tos, changed my .asoundrc file, etc. I don't know what the problem is and I'm not very good with Linux just yet to troubleshoot any further.

I use Opera (Opera 9.02 . Build 434 for Linux. Qt library 3.3.6.)
I use Firefox (Bon Echo?) to test when something with Opera doesn't work
I use the alsa drivers (I think...)
lspci shows my card as:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01)

Can someone please help? It's rather annoying, especially because it seems like it's random!

Try changing the priority of the wrapper (which runs the flash). Change it to 0.

export OPERAPLUGINWRAPPER_PRIORITY=0

See if that helps

Hi, I'm Tej Kohli and I experienced myself the problem with the video and sound incompatibility. I guess it's because of the drivers for the 2 devices wich interfere somehow. My display flickers sometimes during playback. I use Intel 828021 soundcard and Radeon 7500 video card. If anyone can help, please post a reply.
Best regards,
Tej Kohli

After doing that, I get no sound from Opera now. I tried that before though and it was unsuccessfull

Any other suggestions?
