Hello,

I cannot access my epson usb scanner as a normal user of group scanner. It works as root like a charm.
Here is the output of my research:

Code:

nifa@celerix ~ $ groups
wheel audio cdrom video users portage plugdev games scanner jetty

nifa@celerix ~ $ sane-find-scanner
...
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x0122) at libusb:001:038
...

nifa@celerix ~ $ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
...

nifa@celerix ~ $ SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_USB=128 scanimage -L
...
[sanei_usb] sanei_usb_init: found 1 devices
[sanei_usb] sanei_usb_find_devices: vendor=0x04b8, product=0x0122
[sanei_usb] sanei_usb_open: trying to open device `libusb:001:038'
USB error: could not set config 1: Operation not permitted
[sanei_usb] sanei_usb_open: libusb complained: could not set config 1: Operation not permitted
[sanei_usb] Make sure you run as root or set appropriate permissions
...

root@celerix ~ # scanimage -L
device `snapscan:libusb:001:038' is a EPSON EPSON Scanner flatbed scanner

root@celerix ~ # ls -l /proc/bus/usb/001
total 0
-rw-rw-r--  1 root usb     43 sep 29 20:36 001
-rw-rw-r--  1 root usb     50 sep 29 20:36 003
-rw-rw----  1 root scanner 57 déc  5 17:10 038

I have the ff packages:
Code:
dev-libs/libusb-0.1.12  USE="-debug -doc"
media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.18-r2  USE="usb -gphoto2 -ipv6 -v4l"

My kernel is a 2.6.18 linux.

Please help, I really cant make out any issue in the configuration...

Thanks in advance.

NiFA
