When I try to launch octave through koctave, the application starts and yhe dies in a crash after just a second.

I am running KDE split e-builds, octave 2.1.72 and koctave 0.65-r1. octave-forge is also installed with version 2006.01.28.

KDE crash handler gives the message: "The application KOctave (koctave3) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV).
The backtrace says:

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

Unfortunately I have no clue what the problem might be. Can anyone suggest something to overcome the problem?
