Ok I followed the gentoo java guide. Downloaded the appropriate sun and ibm jdk's. Emerged sun-jdk ibm-jdk and blackdown jdk.
I set the system vm with java-config and did an env-update and then logged out and back in. Checked my path echo $PATH and the /opt/ibm.... paths are in there
/usr/kde/3/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:
/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/bin:/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/jre/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:
/usr/kde/3/bin
I also have a 20java file in /etc/env.d/ that appears to have correct info in it
# Autogenerated by java-config 0.2.0
# Cmd: /usr/bin/java-config --set-system-vm=ibm-jdk-1.3.1
JAVA_HOME=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1
CLASSPATH=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/jre/lib/rt.jar
JDK_HOME=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1
JAVAC=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/bin/javac
PATH=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/bin:/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/jre/bin
ROOTPATH=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/bin:/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/jre/bin
LDPATH=/opt/ibm-jdk-1.3.1/jre/lib/
I then emerged the open office binary and am trying to install it but when it asks for the java runtime environment it will only recognize the blackdown jdk. It will not see either ibm or sun.
Also if I type java-config --list-available-packages it doesn't find anything. No classpath.env or package.env files. What are these files that it can't find? Should I have some?
Did I do something wrong? How can I use the ibm Jdk?
Thanks
