I've just bought a Canon PowerShot A710 IS without thinking of the fact that it's a PTP camera. Is is possible to get this camera working with gphoto2 or even better to mount it without any special software? I've tried with gthotofs without any success... |

Trust me. _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak) |

It is preferable because:
1. Transfering images doesn't wasted your camera batteries.
2. You can fetch all files as gphoto cannot always fetch stuff as video recordings and voice comments.
3. You can move files to the card. Canon's own protocol only supports reading and deleting.
4. You are not bound to Canon's own cables and you won't wear out the rubber protection that most Canon cameras are equipped with.
5. You can put the card into any computer that supports basic USB storage and expect it to work. _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak) |
