How to simulate RAM heavy-load

I'd like to test my system under heavy load.
Is there any option to allocate certain amount of RAM?

You could create ramdisks using mount. Check on google.

Or you can compile the latest version of WINE, it fails here with 512Mb RAM + 512 Mb SWAP

(Just joking, using ramdisks is a good idea
