Ladies and gentlemen... this is a question about recovering user's mail erased accidentally. The mail server stores the mail at /var/mail/<username> and the content of this file was erased by the user itself (when she realized what did it was too late).
Looking around I found a folder called Mail/ located at the user's home. This folder has some messages of this user and it's quite up to date, each message is a separate file and the folder weights 482MB.
So... is there a way to use this folder to bring the user's messages back?
Well... that's all!!! Thank you.
Greetings. _________________ 64 Bits, good good! |

Usually /var/mail/USER is the where the system spools mail for the user as it arrives. The $HOME/Mail/ directory is typically the user's mailbox directory of received messages (i.e. their MUA has retrieved their mail from the system spool at /var/mail/USER and placed it in this directory). If they've deleted their system spool then they're probably SOL unless the sysadmin has a really recent backup. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |
