|
|
I'm trying to install 1.1a on a Pentium and I get the following message:
ISOLINUX 1.67 2002-02-03 isolinux: Loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it...
isolinux: Failed to locate CD-ROM device; boot failed.
I have Red-Hat and Mandrake CDs that boot perfectly fine, but this one fails to get out of the gate.
I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting this. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

I had the same problem. I use a dual P3 with asus cu4vx-d board.
Try to disable all other boot devices in the boot section of your bios. That should help!
Have fun

I still don't know why the CD won't boot, but now it doesn't matter. I found elsewhere instructions on using a linux boot floppy here. Following the instructions, I have booted the Gentoo image and started the install. The Pentium is a bit slow, but it *is* working. |
