|
|
I installed Windows XP into a logical partition. But somehow Windows decided to transform it into a primary partition. Now I got a broken partition table, where a primary partition exists within an extended partition, which confuses fdisk. Apart from that Windows and Linux work fine with this partition table.
But nonetheless, does anyone know how to fix this?
fdisk /dev/hda yields:
Quote: | Disk /dev/hda: 20.0 GB, 20003880960 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38760 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 25931 13068846 83 Linux
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda2 25931 38760 6466162+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda3 * 27121 38745 5858968+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/hda5 25931 27110 594342 82 Linux swap / Solaris |
and expert mode says:
Quote: | Nr AF Hd Sec Cyl Hd Sec Cyl Start Size ID
1 00 1 1 0 164 63 1023 63 26137692 83
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.

As I know, Windows has to be installed into a primary partition. |
