emerge libsdl failed

AS stated, im trying to download libsdl, directly and as a dependency for other programs. i need it currently for VLC and links (and probably other stuff in future)

I have restarted (it fixes some problems for me) and i am currently trying to sync portage to see if that helps. But emerge --sync failed. i am going to try to do a web sync soon. I have a feeling that there may be more than one problem. Other emerge's have run fine up to this point and it is the first time i have tried to sync since builtime of gentoo
