I have a Dell Dimension 1100 (hey, it was cheap...) and, afaik, you can't really mess with Dell machines because the BIOS is usually not very flexible.
What I want to do is make my machine run slower. I rarely use my CPU, so I'm hoping that by doing this, it'll run cooler so my fan will make less noise. Is it possible to do this? |

I doubt that running it slower will make muc of a difference. If your CPU is idle most of the time it is executing the hlt (halt) instruction so the CPU just chills. |
