Bon Echo / Firefox crash

Hey all,

On my Gentoo box my Firefox / Bon Echo (2.0-r2) build keeps sporadically crashing. Kinda a pain really, browse, browse, browse, crash for apparently no reason, with the frequency of crashing seeming roughly proportional to the intensity of use. But, I have been playing a game with the browser open in the background and its crashed. I cannot find anything similar on the web and I'm at a bit of a loss what to do. I think the problem is not with Firefox, but somewhere deeper in the stack, but I am really not sure

If someone could point me in the right direction. Here is my emerge --info and gdb's output. Also I'm not sure if its important but I use nvidia-drivers (currently nvidia-drivers-1.0.9631). Cheers.

EDIT: oh yeah, and if I continue in gdb, the same error occurs but with slightly different garbage pointed to by arg1.

I don't think there is a "right direction" other to say that Firefox and Thunderbird seem to have gone to crap once they hit 2.0. After dealing with so many Firefox crashes, I switched over to Konqueror. I don't think it's your system. I just think Firefox leaks memory like a sieve. And it happens on my AMD64, Pentium-M laptop and Pentium desktop. From what I understand, people have been complaining about Firefox memory leaks from the beginning. It's only been with 2.0 that I started having significant problems, like the one you described. I switched over as soon as it managed to eat 2 gigs of memory and lock up my system. I may go back at some point in the future but I depend too much on browsing with lots of tabs open to go back anytime soon.
