I've been searching for a while and can't find any information about how to remove the text from GRUB such as

Quote:
GRUB loading please wait...

GNU GRUB version 0.97 (... lower / ... upper memory)

and the rest about the arrows and stuff

with all the customization possible in Linux it's kinda strange that isn't possible to do in grub.conf

thanks in advance for any help :)

I've never seen anything to indicate the instructional text on the menus could be customized, suppressed or altered in any way through configuration. I'd be even less hopeful the "GRUB loading" message(s) could be suppressed--for several reasons, not least being it's not visible for long.

There is one option, if you have programming skills: get the sources, patch GRUB to suit your need and install your own personal, taciturn version. Do a good enough job of it and you could submit the patch for inclusion in a future release. 8)

Moved from Documentation, Tips & Tricks to Other Things Gentoo, please don't post support questions to DTT.

sorry for posting this in the wrong section, still a newbie around here

anyway i've found lilo a lot more configurable than grub, now my boot loader has a clean interface with a simple pic (still gotta figure out how to get the "suse" boot loader, maybe after my exams)

one thing i have to point out is the lack of information i've found about boot loaders, most is dated between 2002 and 2004, maybe google doesn't work as well as it used to or i suck at searching!

nevertheless thanks for the hint, maybe i will when i have some time, although i doubt i could get something working as all i did so far are programs for my college projects.
