Hello, I have started using Gentoo about a week ago, and I have two issues.
When using the 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 kernel, at random times a key I press gets entered in a random number of times, and does this on numerous keyboards, and even did it through SSH from another computer.
When using the 2.6.18-gentoo-r3 kernel, the computer completely freezes. I have searched around and see that it is a chipset issue, so I have downloaded the chipset drivers from NVidia, yet they fail to install.
If you need further information I can provide it, as this issue is very frustrating for me. |

That is odd!
Does the motherboard manufacturer say explicitly that they support it?
If not search google for the north and south bridge codes and see if it mentions linux compatibility problems. |

I have found some chipset drivers only for the network and some sound driver which isnt to a sound card, and both fail to install.
Hate to sound n00bish, but how would I go by using the latest kernel (2.6.19 or something) and get genkernel to use it?
Edit: I grabbed 2.6.19.1, and compiled it, and now everything works. |
