Right,
I've recently realized that I had enough spare parts hanging around that I could contruct a little AMD Duron 1.2Mhz, by doing that i'm now going on ebay to finds the last bits n pieces needed (agp card for under a fiver n a hdd that can just abou accommodate gentoo)...
now the real question lies with my server...
I now have about 4/5 system feeding off it n I was thinking I could upgrade the poor bugger to a full blown LAN mirror...
now, I have a simple 9.1GM scsi3 HDD on it n I've told I need at least 10/15GB of space to have the mirror...first is this true?
second, since there are so many SCSI drives out there im a bit scared of getting the wrong on, so if nyone could provide a hint of what I can oe cant buy that would be groovy...
Current drive specs,
Code: |
Make: Compac
Model: HD0093172C
Drive CPN: 336366-001
CT: 2172C016CH9313
9.1 gb 10K RPM, WIDE - ULTRA - SCSI - 3
|
Now if you need more info on the server itself (like what sort of controler it has, etc) let me know...
I really need to know if I can mix drives, do I have to stick to some type of slot, etc... I do admit I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to SCSI stuff hence all these mindless questions...
Anyway thank you all in advance,
